The Firm was organized in 1998 to profit from identified opportunities as a result of the Asian Financial Crisis that began in late 1997. As a strategic investor, Renaissance International Investments Limited ("Renaissance") focuses on special situation assets, principally distressed assets, in the Asia region. Renaissance initially managed an investment portfolio, Renaissance Opportunity Portfolio I, for a group of private investors.
